Wednesday, December 10 (7pm)

Much afoot, gentlemen. Update:

First, congrats to the middle school "B" team for winning its first game of the year, 31-11, over St. John's Academy. Well done. (FYI, B-teamers, no practice Thursday or Friday. Savor the win.) Congrats also to everyone, especially you Calverts, who competed in the poetry contest today. Good work to all.

No classes today except 6th period, during which we went over (again) the proper format for an essay in my classes. As for tomorrow:

7th Grade/2nd Period: Quiz tomorrow on writing DC sentences. We will also finished class exercise 52.

7th Grade/3rd Period: No quiz Thursday. We'll just aggress on exercise 52 in the Gold Book.

8th Grade/4th & 6th Periods: Zingers due tomorrow on Andrew Ferguson's article "Self-Interest is Bad?" Tomorrow we will work on a two-paragraph essay, due Friday, on another poem, probably one by today's Hooper answer.

HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to R2 for nailing Tuesday's Hoops-Hooper. Indeed, the Washington Wizards started life as the Chicago Packers, Earl Monroe was the Black Jesus of Winston-Salem, and Brad Dougherty was chosen ahead of Michael Jordan in the 1984 NBA draft.

Tonight, an easy birthday Hooper. Two points to every Comper who can tell me what poet, born today in 1830, is known as the Belle of Amherst?
