Monday, December 15
... and we're back with a full slate of Comping awesomeness.
First of all, over the weekend, I graded everything. Alas, today 8th grade essays were due, but, on a positive (?) note, hardly anyone turned them in. Good times. On to the update.
7th Grade/2nd Period: Today we went over the quiz from the other day (which didn't go well). Then we worked on exercise 52 in the Gold Book. Good progress on dependent clauses all around. Tonight there is an extra credit homework assignment to finish exericse 52. The test on DC's will be later this week. Tomorrow there will be a quiz on writing complex sentences (as in exercise 51 in the Gold Book).
7th Grade/3rd Period: No class today; no homework tonight; no quiz tomrorow.
8th Grade/4th Period: Dagger of class period, gentlemen. I'm afraid you're going to learn the conclusion-writing stuff the hard way, via almost daily quizzes. Dickinson essays were due, but almost no one turned them in. Hurry it up, boys: there's already another zinger in the pipeline, due Wednesday. No class tomorrow: floater four.
8th Grade/6th Period: We got a lot done on the conclusion-writing exercise, which I'll post on the site soon. We assigned and read through the Lewis zinger, which will also be posted soon. It's due Wednesday. Tomorrow... I'm not sure. We may have a fun period with easy points, or we may have an in-class conclusion-writing assignment. Depends on how good Chuck is tonight.
HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to the many, many Compers who nailed last Wednesday's question. Indeed, the Belle of Amherst is none other than our own Emily Dickinson. Well done.
Tonight, Hooper begins his annual Christmas give-away. Three, count them, three!, points to every Comper who can tell me which of the four Gospels is featured here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKk9rv2hUfA. Good luck.
