Wednesday, November 19

Good day, gentlemen. Lots going on heading into Penelope Break. Again, I will be gone Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. I will be back after Thanksgiving. Here is the update:

7th Grade/2nd and 3rd Periods: Today we did quiz 29 on punctuating all six PT's, then we reviewed for the test. The study guide for the test is posted to the left. Tomorrow we will begin Part IV in the book on dependent clauses. Friday will be the test. Monday and Tuesday you will work in your Gold Books on exercises during class. Plan for a quiz at least one of those two days.

8th Grade/4th Period: No class today -- floater four. The PJ essay on "Rendezvous with Death" is due Thursday. Thursday in class we will begin work on the four-paragraph essay on the two WWI poems. That essay will be due Tuesday.

8th Grade/6th Period: Today in class we did the "Avalon" limericks. They are due tomorrow, along with the "Rendezvous with Death" PJ essays. Then tomorrow we will begin work on the WWI poems essay. It will be due Tuesday.

HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to Chris Whittington for knocking down last night's Hooper two-fer. Indeed, the villain carved into the side of the National Cathedral is Darth Vader, and the Bum-bum-bum-buuuuuum piece of classical music is Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Well done.

In honor of the final hours of the Baby Connolly naming contest, a Hooper three-fer about the origins of the leading contenders. For those interested, here is an image our most recent sonogram of Baby Girl. Three points to the first and one to each additional Comper who can tell me: (a) What classic heroine made the name Penelope famous?, (b) What 20th century convert saint made the name Edith popular among young Catholic famous?, and (c) What is name of the Blessed Virgin's mother, who plays a prominent role in Friday's Catholic Feast Day?
