Monday, November 3
Gentlemen,
Sorry for the inconsistency on the blog the last week. The Connollys are selling our palatial mannor in hopes of finding something closer to school. I spent my weekend sweeping, fixing, painting, and all manner of other endeavors. At any rate, welcome to the 2nd quarter!
7th Grade/2nd & 3rd Periods: Today we worked through the exercises in Chapter 28 in the Gold Book -- that's review of the first three punctuation templates. Tomorrow we will have a quiz on punctuating compound sentences using the first three PT's. Later in the week will be a quiz on writing compound sentences using the first three PT's.
8th Grade/4th Period: Today we, well... today we just talked about the election, I'm afraid. That said, tomorrow we'll finish the quarter with Quiz #16, quoting Rudyard Kipling's "If..." After the quiz, we will move on with an intro to precis writing.
8th Grade/6th Period: Today we did the fourth PJ essay of the quarter, this time on Joseph McPherson's "Avalon." Tomorrow we will begin work on the 2nd quarter with the precis intro.
HOOPER PROJECT: Tonight, in breathless anticipation of tomorrow's election, a presidential Hooper of the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Three points to the first and one to additional Comper who can tell me: (a) What presidential candidate appeared on a major party's ticket the most times?, (b) Who was the last president to win election while losing the popular vote?, and (c) Why are there 538 votes in the electoral college? I'm Mr. Connolly, and I approved this message...
