Monday, November 17
Welcome to the week. It's only 8:50 Monday morning as I write, so the update's got to be in the future tense...
7th Grade/2nd Period: No class today: floater two. Tomorrow we will finish up with the review exercises in Ch. 33.
7th Grade/3rd Period: Today will continue Ch. 33 in the Gold Book. No class tomorrow: floater three. Wednesday we will finish that chapter.
7TH GRADE TEST ON COMPOUND SENTENCES WILL BE FRIDAY.
8th Grade/4th Period: Today we're doing a quoting quiz on Alan Seeger's "Rendezvous with Death." We also reviewed your writing, with an eye toward recently percolating daggers. Tomorrow we'll do a PJ Essay on the same poem.
8th Grade/6th Period: Same as 4th Period. Quoting quiz today, then writing review. PJ Essays tomorrow.
HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to Billy the Kid for slaying last Thursday's Hooper. Indeed, three curtains are (a) Iron: the dividing line between Eastern and Western Europe imposed by the Soviet Union after World War II; (b) Steel: the mighty defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970s; and (c) curtain: when the cast of a play comes out at the end and bows to the crowd while everyone is cheering for them. Good job.
Tonight, in honor of Mr. Connolly's favorite TV show, three Hoopers about guys with the same name. Three points to the first and one to each additional Comper who can tell me: (a) Who was the first pilot to break the sound barrier?, (b) Who was the Frankish leader who defeated the Muslims at Tours in 732?, and (c) What British author wrote A Tale of Two Cities? Good luck, _________.
