Monday, November 10
Good day, everyone, especially the newly inaugurated 11th grade Compers. On to the update...
7th Grade/2nd Period: Today we did the quiz on punctuating embedded ca's, then worked on Exercise 42 in the Gold Book. There will be a quiz tomorrow on writing embedded ca's, like in Exercise 42. Then we'll work on Chapter 31-32.
7th Grade/3rd Period: Today we finished chapter 30 and began Class Exercise 42 in the Gold Book. Homework tonight (+3 if you do it, -3 if you don't), is to finish Ex. 42. Quiz tomorrow will be on punctuating embedded ca's, like in Exercise 41 in the Gold Book.
8th Grade/4th Perioid: Today we handed in the first Zinger of the year. Then we took a quiz on quoting "Anthem for Doomed Youth." That will be due Thursday. Then we talked about Zinger #2 on the article about Barack Obama by Anne Applebaum. Tomorrow is a special surprise...
8th Grade/6th Period: Today we handed in the first Zinger of the year. Then we took the Wilfred Owen quiz. Then we discussed the new Applebaum zinger. No class tomorrow (Floater 6) or Wednesday (Gettysburg). Zingers due Thursday.
HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to R2 Whittington for wacking out last weekend's loony Hooper. Indeed, Jimmy Piersall's autobiography is called Fear Strikes Out, the Achaean warrior who lost it and offed himself was Ajax, and the Civil War general who had those issues in 1861 was William Sherman. Well done.
Tonight, in honor of Wednesday's Wiki-Trip to Gettysburg, three Hoopers about the most important battle of the Civil War. Three points to the first and one to each additional Comper who can tell me: (a) Who led the Confederate Army at Gettysburg?, (b) What regiment was led by Col. Joshua Chamberlain?, and (c) Who led the Rebs' tragic charge on the third day of the battle? Hoopers charging... fix bayonets!
