Thursday, October 9
A fine day to begin the best baseball of the year (more on that below). Tough break to the middle school football team, but they were happily redeemed by the soccer studs. Well done to all. On to the update:
7th Grade/2nd Period: Today we did the quiz on relative clauses. No class tomorrow: floater two. No school Monday, so no quizzes until Tuesday! (This one's for you, CP!)
7th Grade/3rd Period: Today we did the RC quiz. Tomorrow is the quiz on clause identification. It will be similar in format to exercise 25 in the Gold Book.
8th Grade/4th Period: Today we finally shook loose the cobwebs and started writing, with an in-class P.J. Essay on "Danegeld" by Rudyard Kipling. That assignment will be worth 15 points, but I doubt I'll get to them all tonight. I should have them back to you Tuesday at the latest. Tomorrow... actually, I'm not sure what we're doing tomorrow, but I'll think of something.
8th Grade/6th Period: Today we did the walk-through on PJ Essays. Tomorrow will be the in-class essay on "Danegeld."
HOOPER PROJECT: In lieu of the Hooper Project tonight, I'm just going to ask once more for predictions for the League Championship Series. In the National League, Los Angeles squares off against Philadelphia, and in the American League, it's Boston and Tampa Bay. Just tell me which two teams you think will advance to the World Series and how many games you think it will take them (i.e., Boston in 6 or Philadelphia in 5). All series are best of seven, so if your guess is Tampa in 11 or L.A. in three, it's wrong.
Good luck, and Go Sox!
