Monday, October 6
A fine start to the week, gentlemen. Lots of good work got done across the board. Tomorrow should be a busy day for all of us, heading into Wednesday's capture the flag extravaganza. On to the update:
7th Grade/2nd & 3rd Periods: 7th grade sections have finally evened out after today's independent clause quiz in 2nd period. Tomorrow, both 7th grade sections have a quiz on dependent clause vocab. It will be similar to exercises 19 and 20 in the Gold Book.
8th Grade/4th Period & 6th Period: 8th graders have also pulled even after today's double quiz effort in 4th period. Tomorrow both classes will do the quiz on conclusions. It will be like the conclusion exercises posted on the website. We'll then do a walk-through on P.J. Essays.
HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to Cody Mauri for electing the correct answers to this weekend's presidential Hoopers. Yes siree: William Henry Harrison was the first president to die in office; John Hospers was the last third-party candidate to win an electoral vote; and Franklin Roosevelt's trucking of Alf Landon in 1936 (523-8) was the biggest electoral college blow-out in American history. Well done.
Tonight, in honor of (what had better be!) tonight's Division Series clincher for the Boston Red Sox, three easy Hoopers about the Olde Towne Team. Three points to the first and one to each additional Comper who can tell me: (a) What Red Sox great hit a home run in his final at bat?, and (b) What former Red Sox slugger is the last man to win the Triple Crown?, and (c) In what baseball temple do the Sox play their home games? Good luck!
