Friday, October 3

Are you kidding? Two quizzes in the 7th grade today. Red Sox-Angels late-night. Governor Barracuda still picking bits of Joe Biden out of her teeth. It's 9:25, and it's already a great day, gentlemen. On to the update:

7th Grade/2nd Period: Two quizzes today: one on clause vocab and the other on the Preposition Song. Then we moved on to independent clauses. Exercise 19 in the Gold Book is a very easy homework assignment. Quiz Monday on them.

7th Grade/3rd Period: Also two quizzes: the preposition song and then the quiz on independent clauses. Then we had a make-up day for redos and make ups quizzes to give 2nd period, held back by the schedule this week, a chance to catch up. No quiz Monday.

8th Grade/4th Period: Today we did a quick-run through on conclusions. Monday we'll have the quiz on them, then a walk-through on P.J. Essays.

8th Grade/6th Period: Today we did the quiz on subject. topics, and theses, and then moved on to conclusions. MONDAY IS FLOATER SIX, SO NO CLASS. CONCLUSIONS QUIZ TUESDAY.

HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats again to Vice President Niedzielski for veeping up last night's Hoopers: the first vice president not to become president was Aaron Burr, the candidates who appeared in the first vice presidential debate in 1976 were Walter Mondale and Robert Dole, and the first woman nominated to be vice president was Geraldine Ferraro from New York, who went on to lose, with Walter Mondale, in 1984 to Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Well done.

Keeping with the theme of presidential Hooperdom, tonight a weekend three-fer. Three points to the first and one to each additional Comper who can tell me: (a) Who was the first president to die in office?, (b) Who was last third-party presidential candidate (that is, not from the Republican or Democratic parties), to win an electoral vote?, and (c) What was biggest electoral blow-out in presidential election history? Good luck!
