Wednesday, Sept. 17

Gentlemen,

Hope you all enjoyed your field trips. My thought as of right now is to make the 8th grade field trip essay voluntary and extra-credit. By the next Wikipedia Wednesday, we'll have sufficiently reviewed essay structures that it'll become mandatory. For now, though, enjoy your last WW of freedom.

No classes today, obviously. As for tomorrow:

7th Grade/2nd Period - No class, Floater 2.

7th Grade/3rd Period - Quiz on adverbs (and the next column of prepositions!). We'll then review prepositions and start knocking down the last three parts of speech.

8th Grade/4th Period - Quiz on relative clauses. We'll quickly finish up the RC PT's, then move on to reviewing all 15 PTs. Quiz Friday on RC PTs, then a test early next week on all 15.

8th Grade/6th Period - Quiz on relative clauses. We'll quickly finish up the RC PT's, then move on to reviewing all 15 PTs. Quiz Friday on RC PTs, then a test early next week on all 15. (Deja vu?)

HOOPER PROJECT: Good job to Josh Solomon, the first of many Compers to nail last night's tyrannical Hoopers. Indeed, Josh: Ghengis was khan of the Mongols, Ivan the Terrible was tsar of Russia, Elizabeth I was the hilariously anti-Catholic queen of England, and Idi Amin led his thuggish kleptocracy 1970s Uganda. Say what you will about Solomon, he knows his monstrous despots.

Tonight, a Hooper in three easy pieces. Three points to the first and one to each additional Comper who can tell me: (a) What does the famous sentence, "Ecce homo." mean?, (b) Who said it?, and (c) When? Good luck, and as always, "Quid quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur."
