7th Grade/2nd Period: We did the quiz on verbs today. QUIZ TOMORROW on active and passive verbs. The quiz will be essentially identical to Class Ex. #3 in your hand-outs. Then we will begin working on pronouns and the first two laws.

8th Grade/6th Period: Today we started with QUIZ #3, on compound PT's, then moved on to dependent markers, dependent clauses, and DC PT's. QUIZ #4 TOMORROW on the DM's, DC's, and PT's.
HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to Josh Solomon for invoking cloture on last night's Senatorial Hoopers. Indeed, John Kennedy was our last Senator-turned-president, James Monroe was our first, and Jefferson Smith was the Senator played by Jimmy Stewart in 1939's Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Tonight, in honor of Senator Obama's unfortunate choice of words yesterday, three Hoopers about, well, these guys. Three points to the first, and one to each additional Comper who can tell me: (a) What pig-themed movie was nominated for Best Picture at the 1995 Academy Awards?, (b) What was the pig's name in Charlotte's Web?, and (c) Who was the tyrant leader of the pigs on George Orwell's Animal Farm?
