Monday, June 2
Gentlemen,
Things are coming down to the final sprint, so get to work. Your final Ben Franklin essays are due at the end of this week. If I don't get them by Friday, expect a zero. I will make every effort to finish grading tonight, so I can tell you who owes me what. But remember: it's your responsibility to get stuff turned in to me. No more redos will be assigned; everything I see is being graded.
Finally, I'm not thrilled with the productivity of these "writing periods" during class, so they're done. Starting tomorrow, we're doing class exercises on titling and conclusions that will hopefully (a) help you with your remaining essays, and (b) remind you that the last week of school is not the first week of vacation.
HOOPER PROJECT: In honor of the coming end of the Democratic Party's presidential primary, some Hoopers tonight about that grand old institution. Five points to the first and three to each additional Comper who can tell me: (a) What founding father is seen as the kinda-sorta founder of the Democrat Party?, (b) What president is credited with creating the modern Democratic Party?, (c) What Franklin Roosevelt campaign song remains the unofficial anthem of the Democratic Party?, and (d) During which enormously entertaining Democratic National Convention were rioters tear-gassed outside the convention center? Now, tax, spend, and regulate these Hoopers back to the New Deal!
