8th Grade - Both periods today we continued work on the Animal Farm essays. More of the same tomorrow: the essays are due Friday.

7th Grade - 4th period finished up with High Noon. Tomorrow, we'll get started in earnest on the essays about the movie. 6th period did just that today, and many students already have their thesis statements. Good job, keep up the good work. No rest until June!

HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to Carlos Stumpo, who slayed his inner Hooper for the second day in a row. He nailed all three space-related questions: the first satellite was the Russian Sputnik; the German physicist who led NASA's rocket development team was Werner von Braun; and the last man to walk on the moon was Eugene Cernan. Congrats to all 10 Compers who got it last night. Keep it up.

Tonight, we'll stay a little closer to earth... or, more specifically, we'll focus right on the old third rock from the sun. Five points to the first, and one to each additional, Comper who can tell me: (a) Which of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world still stand today?, (b) What man led the first expedition to circumnavigate the earth?, (c) What is the highest mountain on earth?, and (d) What is the deepest point on the earth's ocean floor?
