Thursday, May 8

Much housekeeping today.

First of all, "Ulysses" redos are due TOMORROW -- Friday, May 9th. Failure to get it in will cost you five points per day.

Second, your next quiz is going to be Monday, on quoting Robert Frost's "Walking By Woods on a Snowy Evening." Floaters, you've got an extra day: no quiz tomorrow -- it's on Monday.

Tomorrow, 7th graders will begin High Noon. 8th graders will begin classwork on your Animal Farm essays.

HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to Alex Reinhardt for detonating last night's Lawrence of Arabia quartet: Lawrence, of course, fought in the Arab Revolt, which was part of World War I; his nickname was "El Aurens;" his classic memoir was Seven Pillars of Wisdom; and he was portrayed in the 1962 movie classic by Peter O'Toole. Good work.

Tonight, three moneyed Hoopers. Five points to the first and one to each additional Comper who can tell me: (a) In what year did the dollar become the official currency of the United States?, (b) What American central bank regulates the dollar?, (c) Who was our first Secretary of the Treasury? Cash in on these cent-sible questions!
