Gentlemen:
Good work today. 2nd period and Floaters made good progress working on the long compound-complex sentences. 6th period got floated, and 4th period got Gala-ed.
NOTE: To the left find two important new postings: the study guide for the big test is under Nota Bene, and Class Exercise 34 has been added, too. It has four more compound-complex sets for you to wrestle with.
Finally, you guys should know: this was filmed at my house.
HOOPER PROJECT: First up, big ups to the 15 Comp-Dawgs who sent in answers to last night's nickname Hooper. Quickest on the draw was Drew Dawson, who pelted all five Hoopers with serious alias knowledge: Red Grange was the Galloping Ghost, Richard M. Nixon was Tricky Dick, Mohammed Ali was the Louisville Lip, Old Blood and Guts" was the nickname of Gen. George Patton, and heavyweight champ Jack Dempsey was the Manassa Mauler.
Tonight's Hooper is about one of my favorite subjects (no, not this, though it is awesome): movies. Okay, real simple: seven points to the first, and two points to any other other, student who can tell me: (a) What was the first movie to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, (b) What is the only sequel to ever win Best Picture, and (c) What was the last movie to win all five of the most prestigious awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Actress)? Lights, camera, HOOPER!
