HECK WEEK, DAY 4!

Gentlemen,

Sorry about no Hooper Project last night. The admissions open house kept me busy and late at school. At any rate, Test #6 is tomorrow. The study guide is posted to the left, and you should have had days ago, anyway. The extra class exercise on multi-clause sentences is posted to the left, too, and you should have finished it by now. Again, gentlemen, the study guide is very closely based on the test; if you know it, you'll ace the test.

Finally, to repeat today's uncertainty: WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT PERIODS WILL BE GALA PRACTICE AND MASS. Therefore, you must be prepared to take the test at your regularly scheduled time tomorrow. If scheduling conflicts force us to move the test to Monday, we will, but we don't know right now who's getting the extra time.

HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to the Wizard of Radnor Road for putting an Unforgivable Curse on the Academy Award Hoopers from Tuesday night: Wings was the first movie to ever win Best Picture, The Godfather Part II is the only sequel ever to win Best Picture, and The Silence of the Lambs is the last film to win the five most prestigious awards.

Today, the final internet Hooper of the third quarter, some literature. Eight points to the first Comp student (and three to any other) who can tell me: (a) What American writer invented the detective story?, (b)
What was the first detective story?, (c) What was the name of this writer's great detective?, and (d) Who was the murderer in that first story? The game is afoot!
