Extra Credit! (And Ulysses Essay news)

Gentlemen,

This morning I came across this story about an elementary school in McLean that has banned tag and touch-football. These games of "intense aggression," according to the principal, have no place on a school playground. Dodge ball and tug-of-war have already been banned at schools in Fairfax County and many other jurisdictions around the country.

If you like -- and this might be a good idea for those of you who didn't do the "Ulysses" homework assignment -- you can do an extra credit essay on the issue of schools banning physical recess games. Is it a good idea? Bad idea? Motivated by good intentions or bad?

Two paragraphs, gentlemen, for 10 extra credit points. Due Monday, April 21.

Also, the "Ulysses" essay is being pushed back a week because of Gala. It will now be due Tuesday, April 29th to give as another week to work on in class. Good luck, and happy writing.

Finally, NO HOOPER TONIGHT. I'll definitely put one up before Monday, and maybe more than one. You should focus your efforts this weekend on the Gala and on your extra credit essays or developing your Ulysses essays.

Mr. C.
