HOOPER PROJECT: Congrats to Logan McLean and Matthew Martin, who each each earned 5 extra credit points for strangling their Hoopers with Polonius' speech to Laertes in Shakespeare's Hamlet. (With a festival day coming up, it's worth remembering this speech is one of the best in all of English literature and well-worth reading and memorizing. Check it out. Due to this speech's considerable Hooper value, you can get 1 extra credit point per 2 lines instead of the usual 4 lines.)
Today's Hooper Project: In honor of the his recent death, today's question have to do with a late, great American. Five points to the first Comp I students who can email me today and tell me tomorrow, respectively, the following: (a) What famous political writer died yesterday at age 82? (b) What's the name of the magazine he founded in 1955? and (c) What's the name of his first book, which he published right after graduating from college? Good hunting, gentlemen.
